Kuntaskurun aamumetso - Early Capercaillie behind Kuntaskuru

At seven o'clock a young male Capercaillie was sitting on the top of Scots pine tree behind Kuntaskuru valley. We could see the almost from the stairs of the research station. The bird was eating slowly the needles from the top of the pine. It stayed on the same branch (top) for about two hours.

At 9 o'clock I skiid towards the bird and managed to approach it to distance of 100 meters. Finally it jumped to flight and flew towards Rakitsa hill.

Distance and photographing angle were rather challenging for pocket camera.
