Kapustarinnat tunturissa - Golden Plovers on the fell

Kapustarinta - pariskunta odotteli kevään etenemistä vähäisillä pälvillä, joita Värriötunturiin on ehtinyt syntyä (kaiken tämän lumen keskellä - säähavaintoaseman kepissä tänään 46 cm). Kapustarinta -naaraalla on selvästi vaaleampi naamataulu kuin uroksella. Linnut olivat ykköslaen luoteisosassa.

Kevään ensimmäinen havainto tuli tänään kivitaskusta, joka varaili reviiriään pikku kakkosen laella (kuvassa keskellä laella oleva ladottu kivipaasi, vasemmalla Värriö kakkonen, oikealla Rakitsanvaara).

Golden Plovers' couple was waiting for the progress of spring on the top of Varrio fells (peak one). There are already some spots free of snow on the fells although the overall scenery is still snowy. The official snow measuring stick showed still 46 cm today. Of the Golden Plovers you can see how much paler the face of female bird is.

The first Northern Wheatear (Oenanthe oenanthe) of 2007 was seen on top of smaller peak of Varrio two (peak and the stony beacon in the photo, the bird flew away).
